Rolo is a very sweet natured little girl. She came into the rescue with her sister Cuddles. When they came in, they were very young and each had recently given birth to a litter of kittens. Sadly none of the kittens survived. When they came in, they were quite traumatised by the experience but with a little extra tlc here at Honeycat, they were each able to move forward. Rolo and Cuddles have since been spayed to prevent this tragedy from happening again.
Rolo loves being outside, sunbathing and once she knows you she is happy to have a little fuss. She is approximately 18 months old but still a kitten at heart. She needs a quiet home, with no children. She hasn't been dog tested but instincts say that a home without a dog is preferable. She is however quite content with other cats around her.
Cuddles has recently been rehomed, leaving Rolo feeling a little lost. Could you offer her a home?
Alfie is one of those cats that when you hear his story, your heart breaks a little for him. He's had such a rough start to his life that we would like nothing more then for him to find his forever home. We first heard about Alfie quite recently. He was taken into Medway to be put to sleep. He had been a stray for some time, back in October the neighbours who had been keeping an eye on him (without feeding or giving him vet treatment) noticed that he had an abscess on the side of his face which had probably been caused by a fight. By January this had burst and his skin was necrotic. Finally realising they must do something the neighbours caught him and took him to the vets.
Luckily for Alfie, instead of putting him to sleep, the vets took it upon themselves to find a rescue to take him. When he arrived he was an entire male with a large number of stiches in the side of his face. Did he let that bother him? Not at all! He is one of the most endearing cats we’ve ever met! As always with entire males, we checked for fiv and his results came back positive. We believe he is about 5 years old. He has now been neutered and really needs someone to show him some love. He really enjoys his fuss, so please come and meet him…
Hugo is another fairly new arrival and he is such a character! He loves to jump on things that don’t hold his weight, like cardboard boxes which give way. We then see his head pop out with a confused expression, as if he doesn’t quite understand what just happened! His absolute favourite toys are empty toilet rolls, they keep him occupied for hours! He's a little loopy in that he will have a mad dash around the rescue, including running up and down the posts in the garden. Although he is clearly quite happy to amuse himself he also craves human attention and can be very demanding for it. He loves his lap cuddles too. Hugo has travelled a long way to be with us in Eastbourne! He has his own passport as he comes from Bulgaria. His birthday is 15th January 2011, so although he's quite young he has had a poor start to his life. He's already had 2 operations on his mouth and we believe he will need all of his teeth removed due to gingivitis and inflammatory tissue in his mouth, which will happen before he is rehomed. Ideally we would prefer him to be the only cat in the household or if there is another for it to be a fairly quiet female who would hopefully not challenge him ruling the roost! This is because he's had to scavenge in the past so he can be very protective over his food.
Mr Blacks is one of our residents who has been with us for a little while. He's approx. 2 years old although he looks a little older. He was one of a few strays that used to regularly visit Honeycat’s back garden. He wasn’t in the best condition, as he had a bad flea allergy which with regular treatments has been brought under control. Sadly, due to the fact that he is a black cat who doesn’t push himself forward when visitors arrive, he often gets over looked. Which is such a shame as he's a really sweet, affectionate boy who is desperate to be loved. Given some one to one attention he's sure to blossom!
Tabitha and Scarlett
Tabitha and Scarlett have come into Honeycat together. When they initially came in they were a little timid but they have definately come out of their shells now! They tend to stick together at Honeycat so we would like them to be rehomed together. As they are quiet girls they tend to get over looked when visitors come to meet the cats but they are deserving of a home too. They are both quite young and theyre also affectionate. I'm sure they would like to meet you!
Harvey (ON HOME TRIAL)
This lovely lad came into the rescue with a few other cats, both male and female. It was later discovered that one of the females was pregnant and she had a mini Harvey! He has since been neutered and vaccinated so he is ready for rehoming. He's very inquisitive and playful and since being at the rescue he's proven to be a really lovely boy who likes nothing more then some attention. He's started exploring Honeycat and is often found sleeping in his favourite spot behind one of the pens. We think he would benefit from being rehomed with another cat and he's needs a patient owner as he is timid while he learns to trust you. He’s hard to get pictures of as he automatically comes over for a fuss if you stand in front of him with a camera. You end up with a lot of blurry close up shots! We’ve learnt that he loves being groomed so I’m sure in time that he will turn into a loving lap cat.
Beau (ON HOME TRIAL)
Beau was previously an indoor cat but we would love to see her have the opportunity to go outside should she choose it. Her previous owners didn’t want to spay her but found her attempts to escape to find a mate impossible to live with so she came to us. She isn’t great around young children or other cats as she quite a dominant personality. On the other hand she really loves people! She's got huge green eyes and is a really lovely girl to know. She's never too impressed with other cats getting too close so if she was the only spoilt princess of the household then it would be perfect for her!
Quite recently we were contacted by a vets in Bexhill, asking if we could take an unneutered male cat. Once transport for him had been found we rang the vets to arrange a day but someone had already offered to rehome him. They did however have a 14 year old girl looking for a home. Her previous owners had signed her over as their doctor had advised them that they were allergic to her. We picked her up the next morning and she was so happy that she was rubbing her head all over the carrier looking for some fuss. She's a short haired tabby with big eyes and a fluffy tail! She's quite a small cat and she has no known health conditions that are common with cats of her age. She is however a bit special in that she has an extra claw on each paw!
Kimberley also known as Kitcha is a very pretty and affectionate girl. She's living in a foster home at the moment and her foster carer has learnt Kimberley’s life ambition. To be a scarf! She loves wrapping herself around your neck for cuddles. She also known to offer head boffs at every opportunity. She is 5 years old and very good with other cats. She is already spayed and vaccinated so she is ready to be rehomed.
Tigger is a really stunning grey tabby, with the possibility of being a Siamese or Burmese cross. Along with his unusual appearance he also has a very unique meow which he's more than happy to share with everyone! Tigger has come from Bath, he was rescued from his former home by a neighbour as he was being badly mistreated. Despite this, he prefers humans to cats and is a very chilled out and friendly boy. He loves his food and we think he's around two and a half years old.
Patcha is a black and white polydactyl girl. She's related to Ruby, they came from a home where the elderly lady didn’t spay her cats then they had kittens who weren’t spayed etc and before you know it a colony of cats are there! Patcha has come forward in a way that Ruby hasn’t yet, especially since she was spayed recently. She comes in every morning for her cat milk and she knows that she won’t get it until she lets Lucy stroke her. She has always lived with other cats and she now regularly comes into the rescue to have a look around. She would also need a patient owner, someone who is willing to put in a lot of time with her. It would be nice if the girls went together but it isn’t a necessity.
Ruby is a stunning ginger and white polydactyl girl. When she first arrived she was called Benji as she was believed to be a boy. She's related to Patcha, they came from a home where the elderly lady didn’t spay her cats then they had kittens who weren’t spayed etc and before you know it a colony of cats are there! Ruby hasn’t come around the way that her sister has but she does love other cats. We just haven’t convinced her that we are nice too! If Ruby were to be rehomed she would require a very special owner who understands that if she's going to come around that she will do it in her own time. She would suit somewhere with other cats as they make her happy. She is very playful, we just hope someone will give her a chance. It would be nice if the girls went together but it isn’t a necessity.
This chunky ball of handsomeness is Jett! He's another of our FIV+ boys and he is one of the soppiest! He can come across as shy but once he knows you he absolutely dotes on you. He really is a big gentle giant. As you can imagine, he loves his food but he also loves being outdoors. We think he is about 4 years old and he's come from Plymouth. He was with another charity who couldn’t take him due to the FIV+ result but they also didn’t want to put him to sleep. Jett is a must meet at the rescue!
